USW: Calling All Workers in Ontario!
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Telus Tower 25 York Street Toronto, ON M5J 2V5
Calling All Workers in Ontario!
TELUS call centre employees, who are members of United Steelworkers (USW) Local 1944, are facing a critical situation. TELUS is closing its Ontario offices, forcing 150 employees to choose between relocating to Montreal or resigning. Additionally, around 1,000 employees who have been working remotely since 2020 are now required to return to the office in Montreal three times a week, despite their ability to work remotely, necessitating relocation to keep their jobs.
This move disrupts the lives of workers and their families in Ontario. We need the Government of Canada to step in and protect these workers’ rights and livelihoods.
It’s time to tell the Canadian Government to protect our jobs and our communities!
Follow these steps to take action now!
1) Send a message to Ottawa and demand that they advocate for the rights and stability of Canadian workers. Send your message here.
2) If you are in the GTA, join this rally to show your solidarity with these workers.
When: Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Location: Starting at Telus Tower, 25 York Street, Toronto, ON (map), and then marching to City Hall
