With the opening of a new training facility in London, Workers Health & Safety Centre is poised to become the leading health and safety training provider for Southwestern Ontario. Having long served the region from a former Sarnia location, the new and greatly expanded London location will ensure greater access to affordable in-person training for anyone working and living in Southwestern Ontario. Although staff operating from the WHSC London hub will also continue to coordinate all training in the region, including the communities of Chatham, Owen Sound, Sarnia, Stratford, Wallaceburg, Woodstock and Windsor. While WHSC also offers effective online virtual classrooms, in-person training is the gold standard, especially when critical life-saving skills need to be demonstrated such as the use of lifelines for working at heights, set up and use of rope grabs for fall arrest and ladder use, the safe startup and shutdown of propane powered heaters and torches and proper lockout/tag out procedures. Quality training close to home WHSC is Ontario’s only government-designated health and safety training centre and an approved provider of mandatory and essential training. We provide training for workers, their representatives, supervisors, and employers, in public and private sector workplaces of every size, industry, and region of Ontario. WHSC training delivery is coordinated through regional service hubs. This allows us to offer in-person courses in communities across the province, In addition to London, we operate regional training facilities and service hubs from Hamilton, Markham, Sudbury and now Ottawa too. Our new facility in Ottawa was made possible through the generous support of our sister organization Occupational Health Clinics for Ontario Workers who have provided us with training and administration space in their Ottawa location. Workplaces seeking a more flexible approach can also access many of our programs in scheduled virtual classrooms or ask us to coordinate training for their workforce from our facilities or theirs. Regardless of the training mode or location, training is always led by a highly qualified WHSC-trained instructor in real time.
