Unions across Canada have released statements denouncing the Hamas attacks on Israel and the retribution by the State of Israel on the people of Palestine. Unions have called for a ceasefire by both parties and has been demanding the enforcement of international law.
The Ceasefire Now coalition is comprised of labour, civil society, and faith based organizations. The Ceasefire Now coalition supports the Canadian government in calling for humanitarian aid and for the safe return of all hostages. But the Coalition is also calling for a ceasefire which our government has – to-date – resisted.
The Ceasefire Now coalition is calling for a pan-Canadian day of action for peace on Sunday, November 12, to put pressure on our federal government to join the growing international consensus for peace now.
