7:00 PM - 9:00 PM This is a virtual event
The following is from the Council of Canadians London Chapter Steering Committee:
Please join us on Wednesday November 20 for the Annual General Meeting of the Council of Canadians London Chapter, on Zoom. We will start with a short business meeting at 7:00 p.m. for reports on our activities during the last year. We have been busy!
After the business meeting we will welcome Dr. Cheryl Forchuk for her keynote speech “Canada’s Homelessness Problem: Playing Musical Chairs? – understanding how we got to where we are and potential solutions”.
Dr. Cheryl Forchuk is the Beryl and Richard Ivey Research Chair in Aging, Mental Health, Rehabilitation and Recovery; a Distinguished University Professor at Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing at Western University; and Scientist and Assistant Director at Lawson Health Research Institute. Professor Forchuk’s research interests lie in the area of mental health nursing, with a particular interest in the relationship between mental illness and poverty, housing and homelessness. She has studied homelessness for decades and recently completed a national study that included twenty-eight communities, in every province and territory of Canada. Her team interviewed four hundred people who were experiencing homelessness, and had focus groups with two hundred service providers.
We look forward to hearing the results of her research into homelessness and mental health and the possible solutions that she proposes. Her talk will be followed by a Q & A.
