Transform the toxic black oil pipeline snake into a Good Green Energy Dragon!
- Canada’s five biggest oil and gas companies had $38.3 billion in combined profits in 2022 (Environmental Defence).
- Of Canada’s 45 billionaires three are in oil and gas, possessing a total $11.8 billion in wealth (Canadian Business Journal).
- CEOs at seven Canadian oil and gas companies were paid a total of $94 million in 2022 alone (The Globe and Mail).
- A study commissioned by the World Benchmarking Alliance found that not one of the world’s 2,000 oil and gas companies has committed to halting the exploration or expansion of fossil fuel projects, and none of them have a plan in place for a just transition for their workers (CCPA Monitor)”.
Even though we now know that these industries have caused climate change (Breach Media) they take no responsibility for it and intend to continue on the same destructive path for the foreseeable future.
They have the financial resources to fund desperately needed climate solutions, but it is not in their interests to do so. This is why, on November 4, we are calling on governments to move the money, stop subsidizing the fossil fuel industry and fund climate solutions.
