Lorna Bulgin McMahon

1956-2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lorna Merle Bulgin at Victoria Hospital, on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

Beloved wife and best friend of John R. McMahon, they married on May 28, 2016, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, London.

Survived by her sister Marla Dunsbier, brothers Mark (Arlene), and Eric (Cindy). Will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Brett, Kurt, Taylor, Hailey, Kyle, and Sarah. Predeceased by her parents, Gloria and Al.

Lorna was born in Sarnia, Ontario, on September 20, 1956. In the mid-1960’s the Bulgins went to live in Grand Falls, Newfoundland. On returning to Ontario in 1967, Lorna attended Parkhill High School. After graduation she would eventually wound up serving in the Estates Division at the London Court House, working for the Ministry of the Attorney General. She retired in 2016.

During her career Lorna made life-long friends. Her associations with OPSEU, included serving as President of her local, brought her into many interesting challenges. Known for her tenacity and dedication to causes which she believed in, it was her winning smile through it all that she will be most remembered.

In addition to her union, Lorna was an active member of the Executive for the London and District Labour Council. She also served in the same capacity for the Provincial and Federal NDP Ridings of London West.

Lorna loved the outdoors. She could be found more often than not wherever a picket line was set up to protest the miscues of governments, at no matter what level. She enjoyed her travels with John to Italy, Turkey, the Caribbean, and Alaska. She had particularly fond memories of camping at the Pinery where her ashes will be scattered. Lorna also delighted in attending stage productions at Stratford, Blyth, and Grand Bend. Bruce, Mick, and Keith , Neil (Diamond), and AC/DC were among her favourtie concert performers.

A celebration of Lorna’s life will be held at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Saturday, October 31st from 1 pm to 4 pm with words of remembrance being said from 2pm -3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ark Aid Mission in memory of Lorna.
